Aston Villa reach €55m agreement in principle for Mbaye
Aston Villa are reported to have an agreement in principle with Paris Saint‑Germain to sign 18-year-old winger Ibrahim Mbaye in a move being finalised at around €55m.
Aston Villa have reached an agreement in principle to sign Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye, according to David Ornstein. The development was reported on Friday and remains subject to finalisation.
The report puts the proposed fee at around €55m for the 18-year-old, adding that the transfer is in the process of being completed rather than officially announced at this stage.
It is understood the relationship between PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Villa co-owner Nassef Sawiris has been important in progressing discussions towards this agreement, the report adds.
An agreement in principle indicates that the main terms have been settled, while formal steps such as final paperwork and club announcements still need to follow. Until those are done, the deal cannot be considered complete.
Mbaye is a highly rated young winger at PSG and, if the process concludes as indicated, he would join a Villa squad preparing for the new campaign. Neither club has made a public announcement on the move.
