Who we are

Midfielder is published by OCEAN LUX LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16013082, whose registered office is at 27 Old Gloucester St, Holborn, London, United Kingdom, WC1N 3AX. For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 we are the data controller for the personal data described on this page. What we collect, and why

We have deliberately kept this short, because the site collects very little.

• Nothing you have to give us. There are no accounts, no registration and no comment forms on this site. You can read everything on it without telling us anything.
• If you email us we hold your message and your address for as long as it takes to deal with it, and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you write again about the same thing.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider records the usual technical details of each request: an IP address, the time, the page asked for, the browser identifier. These are created automatically by the web server, are used to keep the site working and secure, and are not used to build a profile of you.
• Measurement, if and when we add it. If we introduce analytics we will say so on this page and in the cookie policy first, and any non-essential cookie will be set only after you agree to it.

Our lawful basis

For server logs and keeping the site secure we rely on our legitimate interests in running a website that works and is not abused. For correspondence we rely on legitimate interests in answering you, or on the steps needed to enter into an agreement if you are writing about a commercial matter. Where we ever rely on consent, for example a non-essential cookie, you can withdraw it at any time and it costs you nothing to do so.

How long we keep it

• Correspondence: normally up to 24 months from the last message.
• Server logs: as long as our hosting provider retains them, typically weeks rather than months.
• Anything you ask us to delete: as soon as we can, unless we are required to keep it.

Who else sees it

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. It is handled by the suppliers who make the site work: our hosting provider, and our email provider. Some of them may process data outside the United Kingdom, in which case the transfer is covered by the safeguards that the UK GDPR requires, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses.

This site loads two things from third parties which see your IP address as a technical necessity of delivering them: web fonts, and photographs served from the media libraries they were licensed from where applicable. If you would rather the site made no external requests at all, that is a setting we can turn off; write to us.

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests, and ask for it in a portable form. Write to info@midfielder.co.uk and we will answer within one month.

If you think we have got it wrong, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first so we can put it right.

Children

This site is written for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects you, the date below changes with it and the new version replaces this one on the same address.
