Burnley have held talks with Manchester United over a move for Amass, with discussions pitched around the £3.5m mark on Tuesday morning. The approach has not moved forward at this stage.

Laurie Whitwell says contact has taken place between the clubs but that negotiations are not progressing, indicating any agreement remains some way off for now.

The current position establishes that there has been dialogue and a provisional valuation discussed. It stops short of a deal, with no breakthrough on fee or terms signalled, and leaves scope for the situation to change quickly should either side return to the table.

Alongside that, the report adds that United are still exploring their options regarding Joshua Zirkzee. It is also understood there is no guarantee the club will recruit a left-back before the deadline.

Taken together, the update sketches a cautious picture of United’s late-window business: preliminary movement on an outgoing, continued assessment of a striker option, and uncertainty around defensive reinforcements, all without a clear breakthrough as things stand.
